I know of 2 Declan's - I don't think it 's out there at all or that you need to explain how to pronounce it. I like it but wouldn't use it with our Italian last name.

I like it a lot. It wouldn't go well with our Jewish/Israeli last name but one of my best girlfriends (who is Irish) has a DS named Declan and I think it is cute!

we really liked it and then I posted on here and a lady from Ireland replied and said in Ireland is a common name for the low class "from the country" whatever that meant.
