Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I think I may have the smallest baby on this board

Went in yesterday  for Violet's 4 month shots and she weighed in at whopping 10 pounds 5 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long. You'd think with the fact that we  are still up every three hours for feedings that she'd be a lot bigger....

yeah, she was 5 weeks early, but still! We have friends who have had babies earlier who got bigger quicker. She is just so petit.  I love when the nurses quiz you about how you are feeding your baby- yup, we are totally putting the baby on a diet, come on nurse!

Any one with a smaller baby?

  • DD isn't that small, but she's the smallest baby of all our friends by far.  She was 4 weeks early.  She eats all.the.time.  I don't know what the feed their kids. LOL

  • DD was 10lbs on the dot 11 days after she turned 3 months. Mine is longer though! She was 20 3/4 inches when she was born!
  • My DD is pretty small.  At her 4 month visit she was 12.3 pounds and 24 inches.  20th percentile for weight and 25th for height.  Now that she is on solids, she seems to be getting chubbier
  • Orion was on time. At his 4 month appt. he was 10lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. He's so big and grown up now. Almost 6 months and over 15lbs. He goes to the doctor next week. Can't wait to get his new stats.

  • Parker isn't very big either- 13.5 and 24 inches long. But you couldn't tell that by how he eats! Lol

  • I bet she's beautiful, though! Was she very small at birth? My DS1 was 5 weeks early, but he weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19 inches, so essentially he was full-term size.  I think he weighed around 14 pounds at his 4 month check up.  He's still right in the middle--2 years old, 29 pounds, 34 inches.

You don't want to know how big DS2 is now--let's just say he weighed over a pound more than your DD does now AT BIRTH.  Embarrassed

  • My DS was really small at birth, Only 5lbs 14oz. Not too small anymore though.
  • At 5 months we're only 13.5 lbs, so not that much bigger considering the age difference. I think at 4 months she was under 12 and she wasn't early (4 days ahead of due date does not count as early) so I'd say you just have a petite baby :)

  • One of my guys was 3lbs at birth (6 weeks early) and at 4 months was about 11lbs, so similar to yours.

  • Abby will be three months tomorrow and she only weights 9 and a half pounds and she was 7 and a half when she was born so she has only gained two pounds.  She was 20 and 1/2 inches at birth but I don't know how long she is now.  It will be interesting to see what she weighs next month at her appointment.  Probably not much more than 10 lbs though would be my guess.
  • we did the get on a scale alone then with DD and subtract the other day and she weighed 10lbs 4oz and is 23 1/2 inches (by tape measure) she was born at 37w 4d so shes pretty small still too

  • I have you beat in the weight department. At her 4 month appt (she was exactly 4 months) she weighed 10lbs 4oz!  She is a little taller though at 22inches long. And she was term! She was born at 37w 2d. Her ped is perfectly happy with her weight- she is staying on the curve- the 5th% curve. She was 5lbs 4oz at birth!
  • DD was born 6 weeks early and she is just as small...at her 4 month appt she was 10 lbs 9oz and 21 1/2 in. We go Saturday for her 5 month check up and I'm so curious to see what she weighs. They all catch up eventually so everyone has been telling me!

  • I think for a premie, that is still good, no?

We just had DD 4 month yesterday and she is 13 lbs exaclty...but she is also 25 inches long.  The doc was a little worried about her weight given how tall she is and has put us on solids already.  He wanted to see a nice fat baby which she is definitly not!  I am sure your daughter is just fine!

  • DD was not a preemie and weighed 7.10 at birth.  She will be 6 months old next week and still weighs under 12 lbs.  She eats great (30 oz/day and 3 meals of solids) but is just very petite.
