Austin Babies

Sad Day

(will someone go post on my post on the main board so I can delete it? Stupid Nest said I was on the bump, but I was really posting on the main board!)

Will is starting to prefer daddy to mommy. He lunges for DH once he walks in the door from work and then is all ga-ga over Daddy for the rest of the night. Awesome for DH. Sad day for Mommy.  Crying That's not supposed to happen already! What happened to mommy's the coolest thing since sliced bread?

*sigh* I think I need another baby now.

Re: Sad Day

  • Austin is the same way. As soon as Doc walks through the door I am NOTHING! He is yelling "daddy" and all over him. We aren't cool because we are with them all day long.

I always have said, "I guess I need another baby so it will be mine!" :-)

  • I feel ya.  We're in a Daddy, well really even more so Ty, phase right now.  Thankfully, kids are fickle, he'll be back!  (((hugs)))
  • my boys do the same thing, but when I go to leave, Jay says they will follow me to the door and then CRY for the next 15 minutes after I'm gone.  And he says they'll sit by the door, staring at it in hopes that I'll open it.  So that makes me feel good.  :)

And I'm so cool w/ them liking dada b/c then I get to escape for some "me" time for a bit.  haha!

  • D has been that what for a few weeks and it's almost brought me to tears.  He cries the minute DH walks in the door until he picks him up.  He's the same way in the morning before DH leaves for work.  With me, I could be gone all day and when I get home I get nothing but a smile.  So sad!
  • I think if you were the parent working FT outside the home, he'd do the same to you when you walked in!

  • DD went through that phase, but now she's back to Mommy.  Don't worry...it will change from time to time.  Until then...HUGS!

DH stays home with DD during the day and she acts the same way with me.  She no longer wants DH as soon as I walk in the door.  DH was sad about it, but as pp said it does give him some time to himself.

I'm sure he would. But I still miss my baby. I think the new development of walking over crawling has something to do with it. Crawling seems so much more baby than walking.

  • Can Will please talk to Layna and tell her that Daddys are waaay cooler than moms?  Layna cheerfully waves Bye! to DH as he walks out the door, but I get followed even to the bathroom.  grrrr...

Not always...we both work full time...I get him for maybe an hour more since I have him with me from when we get home until SH gets home (the car ride doesn't count 'cause usually he's asleep).  It's about 50/50--I think maybe more like 60/40 (I'm the 60).  However, DH can get LO to laugh so much more than me...I am saddened and jealous about it.

  • Ditto pp who said that he'll come back to you. It's a phase, but boy is it tough when the pendulum swings the other way.

It's DH that is bummed out right now because K1 is all about Mommy right now.

    ((((Hugs))))

  • Camy is already starting to show some Daddy preference in the evening, but then when its time for bed she only wants me - so I feel better about that.

Yesterday I was telling DH on the phone how horrible our day had been, lots of coughing and crying and couldn't put her down etc etc - he walked in the door and she seriously lit up. Smiling, squealing, giggling. The girl didn't even crack a smile in her bath which is usually her happy place... but Daddy just perked her right up. I don't think he believed my account of the day after that. At least not until nighttime went down the crapper with her up every 15 minutes. He believed me then. :(

I told Jon this morning that Tommy's giggles and smiles were all just a front. And, sure enough, as soon as Jon was out the door it was breakdown city.
