Has anyone had a filling while breastfeeding? I have a small cavity and the dentist said that if she did use (I assume Novocaine) it is transmitted in breastmilk but that it should be ok. Just wondering if anyone had experience with this or if anyone had asked their dr.
Re: Filling a cavity while breastfeeding?
I had fillings and a wisdom tooth removed while bfing Lily. I let them numb me, but not put me under for the extraction (what a PITA finding a doc to do that
.
I had no issues, but did not take pain meds either.

Don't sweat it. If they numb you then it should be a breeze (other than the mental part). My dentist when I was a kid never used anything to numb you when he filled a cavity. Despite good dental hygiene I managed to accrue a large number of cavities as a kid. There are very good reasons that I have dentist issues these days!
And I agree with everyone else, as long as you're not being put under you should be fine breastfeeding wise. But if you're really sweating it you should be able to call either your ob or your pediatrician and ask them.
