Do you ever hear your name when sleeping?

Tell me I'm not crazy and that this happens to other people. I'd say maybe every 6 months or so (or longer?) I wake up because I hear someone say my name. It's not that I think they are in the bedroom--it's as if the voice is just there and not necessarily a person there. Until the other night, I have never recognized the voice, and it's not the same voice. When they say my name, it's not like they are calling me. It's more like a statement.

The other night I was dreaming of something unrelated, and I answered the phone in my dream. It was my deceased friend's voice saying, "Hi, how are you?" I knew it was his voice, but in my dream I knew it could not be him because he passed away. So I said, "Who is this?" and he started to say his name, stopped, and then said another name as if to be funny. Like who else would have his voice?? That's totally something he would do. I woke up immediately.

I just can't get it out of my head. Logically I know it was a dream, but there's that part of me that wishes it could have been him saying hello. I didn't know he was sick and didn't get to say goodbye. I hate that . . .

This happened to me a few weeks ago.  I was sitting at my computer desk planning ideas for L's bday party.  I fell asleep for a few minutes and woke up to hearing Jarrett's voice calling my name.  It was so strange.  At the same time I heard him say my name I felt/dreamed that Jarrett put his hand on my shoulder as if to wake me up.  It was a few days before the 16th and creeped me out.  At the same time I cherish that moment.  Even if a dream I just felt "close" to him again.  Then I cry about it.    

It has never happened before and hasnt happened again since.

LD, I would also cherish that moment. That made me tear up.

I don't hear my name, but one time I was a volunteer for a program where I was a friend to a senior citizen. I became very close to "Mickey" and we got together a lot to play cards, go shopping, etc. One night I told a little lie bc I didn't feel like coming over. She went out with a friend. She ALWAYS called me when she got home but she didn't. I knew something was wrong and my DH and I went over and couldn't get in her apartment. We called the police, they broke in, and we found my friend dead in her apartment. It was terribly scary and sad. 

That night I was crying and eventually fell asleep. I felt so bad overall and I felt so bad I had lied to her. In my 'dream' I felt her giving me a hug and sort of tease me about the lie and telling me it was ok. And then I felt her leave. It was the strangest sensation and I am not really sure about all that kind of stuff.  Maybe it was my mind playing tricks on me, but it was very comforting and I felt she was ok.
