Wee, help please

Please tell me how to pronounce Niamh and Fionn. They are characters in my novel.

Re: Wee, help please

  • Sorry, I was trying to g Big Smileet the weeman down.

Naimh - Nieve (like knee blended with eve -one syllable)

Fionn is just the Gaelic spelling of Finn.

Finn MacCool was a great Fianna (feena) warrior and Naimh was a fairy or nymph (I think).  They has a child called Oisin. Big Smile

  • Thank you! That's a cool story, too.

I'm currently reading The Brightest Star in The Sky by Marian Keyes and she always has a couple Gaelic names in her novels and I never know how to say them in my head.

  • She's definitely one of my favorite authors. This one is a bit different, I haven't figured out what's going on yet.
