In weeks or months? A co-worker asked so I told her 23 weeks. She said she could tell this was my first child since I responded in weeks, and compared it to when a mother says her child is 23 months old instead of just saying 2 years. Huh? I just say weeks because it's more specific and thats how I've been keeping track myself. ::shrugs::

Re: How do you respond when people ask how far along you are?
I've started combining the two. For example - if someone today asked me how far along I am I would say "26 weeks, so just about 6 months." Next week I'll say "27 weeks, so I'm right at 6 months."
If I tell them weeks, they want to know months....
If I tell them months, they want to know weeks...
So, I just tell them both! :-)
I usually say weeks just because I know that off the top of my head. If they ask how many months, I'll say the month for them.
For DS, when someone asks how old he is, I say 4 or 4 1/2, not 56 months.
I've just started using months and telling people I am 5.5 months. It seems easier than 22 weeks to me.
However, I still talk weeks with all of my other mommy friends.
It depends on who it is.
But I say my son is 23 months old. At least for another week.
I'm constantly thinking in weeks -- if I was counting in months, I think I'd go crazy! I like meeting weekly milestones
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

I think it's hilarious when I respond in weeks and people look at me like I'm the idiot. It's the more accurate response.
I am going to try and keep track of the months just to help people out I guess.
Actually, at 18 weeks, you are about 4 months pregnant. 1 month =/= 4 weeks.
The 9 months is calculated from conception, not LMP like weeks are. Pregnancies last 38 weeks from conception (40 weeks from LMP, as we all know), so if you divide 38 by 4 you get 9.5 months, however there are more than 4 weeks (28 days) in most months. This means that pregnancies last just a bit more than 9 months from conception.
The easiest way for me is to work from my EDD back. I am due 9/2, so on May 2nd, I will be 5 months (have 4 months left). That gives people a relevant timeframe. They know that in 4 months I will be very close to giving birth.
This was always confusing to me until I thought about it.
Its my 3rd and last baby I say weeks. Then if some one ask how many months I am ill tell them im 5.5 almost 6 months.
This. And if I am feeling really lazy or grumpy, I just say "well I'm more than half way there!"
I respond in months. Most people who aren't pregnant seem to refer to pregnancy by months.
I switch it up. It's pretty funny, when I tell someone that I'm 18 weeks, they're like "you're really sticking out there for that early", but when I say 41/2 months they're like, "aw, your bump is so tiny". Weird huh?
This exactly!
