If you used Playtex Drop Ins...

How many actual bottles did you start with/would you recommend?  How many 4 oz did you get and how many 8-10oz?  Am I wrong to assume I won't need as many because of the drop in plastic liner?

TIA!

  • I used them w/ my singleton.  You are right that you won't need as many as regular bottles.  I'd just get extra nipples.  I only had 2-3 bottles of each size, but that was for 1 baby and I nursed for a long time.  Just get a few and see if you like them, you can always go out and get more.

  • Only DD uses them, we have 4 of each size. I agree with PP about getting extra nipples, I end up washing them a few times a day since we didn't get extra.

  • We had 8-10 of each.  I liked being able to prep them ahead of time and just pull them out of the fridge.

  • One thing that I wish I would have figured out before I got to the 8oz size was that you can use the 4oz liners in the 8oz bottle and the nipple/ring is the same.  I had purchased 24 of each size so that I could make a days worth of bottles (when they were drinking every 3 hours), I liked just pulling them out and warming them, but like pp said, you can just buy extra nipples and it will save you space and money.

That is really good to know, I never would have thought about that!

I have six of the 4oz size, and eight of the 8oz, maybe I'll just pick up a few more of the 8oz size.  We are fully stocked on silicone slow flow nipples for now, so I think we're good there.  Thanks!

  • We only had 8 oz bottles (don't see the point in the smaller ones, you can get the smaller liners though) and we had enough to get through an entire day of feedings. For triplets, that was 24 bottles. 18 or so should be enough for you.
