TTC after 35

What do you all think?

OK, I'm asking the experts. I've been sharing my story with you over the last couple months, so you might remember that I discovered a missed m/c in January and had a D&C at the beginning of February. Since that time, DH and I have been TTA as we get some testing done, etc. All the tests have come back normal with the exception of the antiphospholipid test, and I'm supposed to repeat the blood draw for that in a few days.

After the m/c I had a period exactly 30 days later. Then, I had another period at the end of March (25 day cycle). Based on my previous, mostly-regular history, I expected AF to arrive this past Saturday. So far, she hasn't. As I said, DH and I have been TTA but we weren't exactly perfect, so I've POAS twice and both were BFN.

Work has been stressful the last 2 or 3 weeks, but I don't know that the stress has been that unusual (I'm kind of a perpetually stressed out/worried about something or other kind of person anyway). I've been feeling pretty tired and kind of down the last several days, but that could be attributable to the stress...or to PMS...or to a so far unknown BFP. I'm wondering if I O'd late, when I thought I was in the clear, and maybe it's too early for a stick to detect? If I'm not, I really won't be that upset since we were avoiding anyway. I just wish I had an answer, so AF, if you hear this and you're still planning to arrive, get over here already, would ya?!? :-)

So, does anyone have any ideas on what's causing my delay, if everything else is supposedly functioning normally and I've had two normal periods since the D&C? Guess if she doesn't show and a stick is still negative, I'll call the doc next week....

Re: What do you all think?

  • I'd wait it out until at least the end of the week. With my 2 natural mcs I also got my next period around its regular time. But some months my period would show a day or 2 early, some months it'd be 2 or 3 days late, etc. If you're not exactly sure when you ovulated and everything else seems normal i'd give it a bit more time. best of luck.
  • After IVF I'll have a regular cycle or 2 and then I can go 40days without AF, I think you're body is just trying to get back on track. I would just give it time and let you're body do it's thing or call the dr once you're fed up.

The dr can give you something to induce AF, but usually they make you wait a certain time frame. My preference is a shot of PIO because it's quick and one time, were as the pills are 1-2 weeks daily (I can't remember)

  • Thanks for the responses. I tend to agree that it's probably just my body getting back on track. I was just surprised to have any issues with being "late" after having two "on time" right after the D&C.

I tend to have PMS symptoms (like being tired and irritable), and they usually start a few days before AF is expected. So, by this point, I've been feeling that way for more than a week. I don't mind the late AF, but I do wish I'd start feeling like myself again, which usually happens once AF arrives. Doesn't help that DH keeps reminding me that this is what happened the last two times when I ended up with a BFP. I doubt that I am pg, but until AF shows up, I don't think I'll completely convince him.
