Doula mommies: when do I need to make a decision?

Hey doula mommies - I want to use a doula, and I have a number of recs from you (thanks again!) and a neighbor that is a doula.  I'm about 14 weeks now, and given the comments I received about getting daycare secured, I'm wondering if I also need to get the doula thing wrapped up soon.  Thoughts?

    We waited till 27 weeks, but my doula had already booked a trip for 10 days after my EDD, so i wish we had booked sooner.

    The sooner the better, IMO.  I booked mine fairly early - we didn't "officially" meet with her until later in my pregnancy but she was always available via email if I had questions, etc.
