First day of eating better and I am starving!

I'm not calling it a diet, because they never work for me. I a going to try to eat better and take walks through the neighborhood.

DH and I ate the junk last night and I am going through withdrawls. I am craving potato chips and chip dip. I guess I will chew some gum and drink some water.

We eat pretty healthy dinners, but I keep a lot of junk in the house to snack on for me and DH.

  • i'm tracking what I eat, along with trying to eat better with this: https://www.livestrong.com/myplate

i think it was norskie (something like that) recommended it to me. for some reason it really holds me accountable - like, do i really need that handful of chips??

  • That first week is HARD!  I did weight watchers (well, actually kinda getting "back on track" for a little while this week to lose the last 5 lbs) and lost 25 lbs in the last few months.  And because I had kinda let myself eat whatever I wanted the last few weeks, eating lighter the last few days has been a bit more challenging!  But, I know how well it works, so it hasn't been as hard this time as it was when I first started.  I had basically lost all the weight I needed to, and kinda let myself just maintain for a month or so...but now I've decided to give myself a little "wiggle room" and lose another 5.  Helps that I'm going on a tropical vacation with the skinniest person I know this summer :)

  • I could give up every piece of junk food, but don't mess with my wings and chips=P  Good for you!
  • Hang in there.  The first few days are awful but it's fine after that!

  • Ditto neeser on the Daily Plate with Livestrong. So helpful to keep yourself in check. And I can NOT diet either (have to phrase it as being healthier), but it really helps me think of the calories I'm taking in when, say, I finish off the boys' plates at dinner. Try it!
  • grant - were you the one that recommended dailyplate to me? it's been great so far. and i hear you on finishing off plates - bad.habit.

  • We're doing weight watchers and I was like that at first too. Until we actually paid to join, we were famous for starting and then dropping it a few days later! I don't have the junk in the house anymore. My problem wasnt' my meals but it was snacking. I do much better when I have smaller meals and snacks throughout the day. I didn't make healthy snack choices though. Now I'm doing much better, eating more fruit and healthier stuff instead of junk. You have to get over that initial hump though, where you crave thes tuff but you know you shouldn't have it. Once I got over that I've been doing much better, though occasionally i still want to be "bad!"
