Most Repeated Question Ever: Recommend your doctor!

My gyno doesn't do OB (is that right? OB is the baby part?) and I don't like her anyways. I've read all these recomendations a million times, but the only name I can remember is Dr. Tara Cherry (cause who could forget that??).

So here's what I need:

South, Central, or West Austin

Not Hill Country OB/GYN

and thanks (MrsAJL?) for the Dr. Cherry rec, she's on my (very short) list right now.

TIA!

  • LOL!  I was just about to recommend her.  Big Smile

  • My dr might be too north for you, but I go to the Renaissance Women's Group and I see Dr Smith. The dr's there are amazing and if one cant see you, another can and they are all great.
  • Austin Regional Clinic has a good OB practice.

  • I recommend anyone at Women's Partners in Health. They're accross from Seton Main. I saw Dr. Nash but I liked everyone there that I met.
  • I see Dr. Reue at OB/GYN group of Austin. I really like him, as well as Dr. Kish, who delivered C. I also saw their CNM during my pregnancy and she was really nice and their NP, Lynne, is awesome!

ETA: Congrats! I haven't been around all day so I missed your announcement.

  • I second babs' referral...Dr. Reue is great!

Also...Dr. Melanie Belt is in the same office as Dr. Cherry (upstairs from my work) and she is always very friendly. While I can't speak of her bedside manner I think her personal interaction says something. I see many physicians day in and day out in our office building...some of the physicians I work for even turn their noses up at me but she is always very friendly. Asks how my day is or what not and we're total strangers.

  • I adore Dr Grogono.  While (obvs) I haven't delivered with her, I know other nesties have and then recommended her.

  • I agree about Women Partners in Health.  It's a group of female doctors that office near 34th and Lamar.  I like Dr. Nash, but they all seem pretty great.

One thing to consider when "shopping" for an OB/GYN is whether that person will be the one likely to deliver your child.  In my doctor's practice, for example, Dr. Nash will only deliver if it's during office hours.  Otherwise, it goes to the on-call doctor.  So it was important to me that I trusted *all* doctors in the rotation (though I've been told that I won't care who is there once I'm in it).

     Good luck!

I've liked all the OB at WPIH. Dr. Yium is my OB, but Dr. Oliver delivered my son and Dr. Nash delivered my daughter. I also really liked the doctor they share call with ( Dr. Binford).

  • Doh. I just saw on the WPIH website that they offer Hypnobirthing classes at their office. If you are considering going med-free, I'd recommend this method. Needless to say (and in my experience) all the docs there were very supportive of my desired for minimal intervention.
  • I see Dr. Oliver at Women Partners in Health. She's central, right by Seton on 38th St. I absolutely love her! She delivered Alessandra, and I'm hoping she'll get to deliver #2 as well. I never feel rushed with her, and she has a great bedside manner. Her nurse is really awesome, too. I also wanted to mention that I had a really great experience delivering at Seton. They opened a new women's center, and it was really nice.

  • I went to see Dr Cherry last week based on Mrs AJL's rec and I really liked her.  Super down to earth and easy to talk to!
