We are trying to decide on names and we actually agree on this one, but not sure which spelling we want. Please help.

Re: Lucas vs Lukas

  • If you're Scandinavian or German, I think it's fine to go with the 'k' spelling. If not, stick with Lucas.

  • Is there any reason why you don't want the traditional spelling of Lucas? I have never seen it as Lukas so I was just curious why Lucas wouldn't be fine.

We didn't start to consider Lukas until people starting asking if we were gonna use a "c" or a "k". So that's why I was wondering what yal thought.

  • I hate the "k" - Go with the traditional spelling :-)

  • It's a matter of heritage. There is nothing "wrong" with the "k" spelling. K is the Scandanavian and Lithuanian way. C is the Latinized way (English, Dutch, all Romance languages).
  • Lucas looks more "normal" to me.

ETA: So I like Lucas better than Lukas.

  • Initially, we debated c or k as well. We decided to go with Lucas so it won't be misspelled his whole life.

    Tritto.

  • I'm a Swede and I say Lucas :) Lukas will be misspelled constantly. My great-grandpa (who is from Sweden) was named Erik, but changed it to Eric when he came to the US.
