Another solids question...

about meat.  Did you just wait until they started table foods to introduce meat or did you give them pureed meat?

To me pureed meat sounds gross and not something I'd want to eat so I am iffy about giving it to Aubrey when the time comes.  I am strongly leaning towards just waiting to introduce meat when she starts eating table foods.

Re: Another solids question...

  • We never did pureed meats - that stuff just sounds dsguisting to me! We waited until she started solids.

  • Ick!  I agree that sounds gross.  No pureed meats in this house either.  We waited until he started feeding himself, he's always been a good chewer too.

  • They do sound gross, however, I did get her some of the combos like lasagna, apples n chicken, etc. and she really liked them....couldn't do any of the plain meats though--

This is what we do. I'm trying to introduce her to more table food. At night I will fix her the vegetables from what we are having for dinner (ie: last night it was green beans and mashed potatoes (without seasoning for her food)), but I'm scared to try meat. Her top two teeth just came in last week. Any ideas on when to introduce meat?

  • M gets a few tastes of meat here and there from our plates. I give him itty bitty bits or sometimes chew it a bit for him. (I know, sounds gross, but he eats and likes it!)
  • I made my own baby food and I was surely not going to blender chicken...gross - so we waited until she was chewing well (for Avery, she was always a good eater - and started early)...around 8 months.

She ate liverwurst in Germany (it's a pate) and Tilapia and Salmon were both really eats first "meats" because they are so soft.

This is what my SIL did with my nieces...I think it's more common than people are care to admit...I'm sure DH and I will end up doing it too.

  • I didn't do the pureed meats by themselves.  I gave Grace the mixtures.  I believe they make Apples and Ham, Apples and Chicken, Sweet Potatos and Turkey, and I'm sure there are more.  Those didn't seem gross to me.  You could barely see the meat in them.
