Yay! Actually, less than that - two weeks from last Friday! He will have worn it for 10 weeks. It flew by! I'm so excited to love on my baby's sweet little head and bf without a helmet in the way/pressing on my arm (which wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, but not ideal).
joyco/shimmershell: Thanks for answering all my inital band questions. I'm glad we did not have any issues throughout treatment & I really didn't have many follow-up questions. It is AMAZING how much the little dude's head has grown in 8 weeks, particularly considering he started it a little later (7.5 mo). They said if he had needed to keep going, we'd have to get a second band b/c they have shaved off as much as they can with this one. Crazy! I can't believe how little it seemed to bother him. I'm actually nervous to take it off b/c he's gotten so used to banging around with it on - I'm afraid he's going to bash his head on something. And a side-effect I hadn't thought of is that the helmet protected his head/hair on the back of his head where lots of kids' gets kind of thinned out (the reverse male pattern baldness look) so his hair is thick and full. ![]()
Re: yay! DS2 only has 2 more wks of wearing helmet/band!
Our Blog
I'm kind of envious of this part
YAY!! I know that will be so exciting. Your little guy won't know what hit him.
And possibly literally. Haha! Cooper hit his head a few times after getting the helmet off, but he was glad to not have to wear it to bed anymore. Sounds like Cooper had a harder time than your little guy did. Glad to hear that! Nothing worse than having to deal with sleep issues on top of having to wear a freaking helmet for 23 hours!
Congrats! I'd love to see before and after shots--those are always SO fascinating. It's amazing to see the growth. Cooper's helmet was shaved to the absolute limit at the very end, so he would have had to move to a 2nd helmet too if they recommended him wearing it longer.
Yay! Glad it went by so quickly!
And my K2 bangs his head without a helmet, so if your DS does it sans helmet, I feel your pain. :-)
