DS was mad yesterday because I made him turn off the TV after he had watched a movie. He went to play with his toy BBQ grill, and brought me some play food (hotdog and corn on the cob) to "eat." I pretended to eat it and thanked him for the yummy food. Then, very calmly he says, "Guess what, Mom, that food was poison and now you are going to be sick because you were mean to me and turned off the TV." He had a creepy little smile on his face while he was saying it, which kind of freaked me out.
I gave him a lecture on why it's bad to say/do stuff like that and gave him a time out until he could apologized. But I'm a little disturbed.
Re: Should this worry me?
what the hell was he watching?
How old is he?
You handled it correctly.
See if it comes up again... See also if you can figure out where he learned something like that ? How old is he ?
How old is DS? It is a little distrubing to hear, and to think that he could "plan" all of that revenge.
It could also be his mind figuring out how to process the way things make him feel. That paired with one line from the movie about poison food might be all he needed to put the two together. Who knows how their minds work!!
He's 5. He was watching Scooby Doo.
I wouldn't worry. There are lots of kids' shows about poisoning people (Snow White comes to mind!). Now he knows it is inappropriate to say that so if he does it again, then maybe worry.
