Need to clear out the closets...sad about it

I was talking with a friend tonight and realized that I need to get rid of Nora's baby things.  I have all of the clothes she's ever worn, waiting for another child who might not come into being.  We bought a nice carseat and stroller combo on Craigslist when we found out we were pregnant with #2, and then lost him/her almost exactly a week later.  That carseat expires in November 2011.  Odds are, we will either not have another child by then or we will not get all the use out of it that we need by the time it expires.  Just thinking about getting rid of all of these things makes me want to cry.  Ugh.  This effing sucks.  :(

I apologize if I sound like I'm bitching a lot about this.

((Hugs))  *** all you want.  Thats what we are here for.

  • the carseat expires in a year and a half and you're throwing it out now?

    you need meds.

  • I know I shouldn't even reply to you, gibs, but I will anyway.

We've been TTC for 16 months.  We had a m/c 6 months ago.  We decided to take a break on TTC until at least this summer.  More than likely, we will be beginning our TTC journey all over again considering the fact that I need fertility meds to even ovulate.

So, yeah.  In a way, I do need meds.  Just not the ones you are referring to.  Thanks for caring, anyway.

ETA: I'm not going to throw the seat away.  I would sell it or give it to someone who needs it, not throw it away.

  • And you can all go ahead and flame about safety, but seriously??  A carseat "expiring" in November of 2011 so because you might have a baby who uses it into 2012 if you don't get pregnant tomorrow, you're going to throw it away?  You should seriously get  the chance to visit one of the caseat companies and be a guest speaker at their annual party or meeting.  You are such a sucker for media and advertising scare tactics.
  • You're really reaching here gibs -- she didn't say she was throwing it away.

    .
  • Yeah.  She did.  She said she was getting rid of it b/c she wouldn't have a baby in time to use it.  Read her OP and her response to me.
  • Getting rid of something doesn't mean you're throwing it away.  I just boxed up a ton of baby gear to bring to the women's shelter and considered that "getting rid" of it.
    .
  • Read my ETA.  I'm not going to be throwing *anything* away.  It is all perfectly nice and usable--for someone else.
  • Oh jeez.  Her ridiculous point was that because the carseat was "expiring" she couldn't possibly use it for her next baby.  Go ahead and mince words. I just think the thought of your own carseat "expiring" is kind of ridiculous.
  • Gibs...

FFG has had a rough time with all of this. Be nice.

I believe she said she would sell it or give it to someone else who could use it, she never said she'd throw it away.

She's thinking of the safety of a future child, since carseats DO have an expiration date on them, she is choosing not to use it after the expiration date, like any normal person would.

  • Hugs to you FFG, I'm sorry for all you've gone through and I'm sorry for what Gibs has said.
  • STFU gibs.

I don't think being aware of carseat safety is playing into media scare tactics.  Our infant seat expires next spring and I'm considering selling it on CL soon since we won't get our use out of it.  We plan on having another, but I'm not using an expired carseat.

FFG, I'm so sorry.  Vent away.

HUGS to you FFG. I found it difficult to part with some of DDs stuff and I didn't have IF issues. Please don't apologize.Gibs, you SHOULD apoplogize for your insensitivity. Sometimes you are right on with your snark...not this time.
  • I am so very sorry (also sorry you had to get some of the comments you did on here)
