DD has what looks like a small round scrape on her shoulder. She has had it for about five days now, and it hasn't changed. It's pink, rough to the touch, and about the size of a dime. She doesn't have it anywhere else, except I noticed something similar on her leg today. But the one on her leg isn't pink (it's just rough).
Does this sound like a rash? It doesn't fit any of the descriptions I read about. I'm going to call the pedi tomorrow, but am wondering what you think.
Re: weird sort of rash
I'm a pediatric dermatology PA...round pink, scaly rashes are either eczema (atopic dermatitis) or ringworm (tinea corporis). Since your LO is now getting one on the leg, it's most likely eczema since it's rare to have ringworm in separate areas, and rare in infants.
Try moisturizing 3-4x day with CeraVe or Cetaphil cream (CeraVe is the best) and wash with a gentle cleanser (either CeraVe or Cetaphil soaps, both are equal). If it's not better in a few days, add 1% hydrocortisone cream (OTC) 2x day for about 2-3 weeks.
