Austin Babies

Itinerary help?

We're still on the fence about moving from Houston to Austin, and are considering another weekend trip to try to make up our minds.  We'll have our 3 yr old, and I'll be 34 weeks pregnant.  What would you recommend to help sell us on Austin?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Itinerary help?

  • Well, if you make it the first weekend in May, I recommend Pecan Street Festival.  It might not be something you could do all day, being 34 weeks, but it is definitely "Austin."

Wildflower Center would be great this time of year as well.

Zilker Park would be fun with a 3 year old.  You could play on the playground, ride the train, and maybe even feed some ducks.  If it's super hot and your family enjoys being in the water, visit Barton Springs Pool.  It's also close to Zilker Park so you could do both.  You'll also be close to Barton Springs Road which has a lot of Austin-original restaurants (i.e. Chuys, Shady Grove, and Romeo's)

That's all I can think of right now, but there are so many great things to do here in the spring.

  • a walk down south congress to eat some yummy food and get a cupcake from 'hey cupcake'.

Or enjoy being outside at Zilker without suffocating from the humidity... that would be enough for me to pick austin over houston! Wink

(my DH is from Houston/Clear Lake area and it's not my cup of tea... can you tell????)
