cost of tubes and adnoid removal

DS will be having his removed. We have a high deductible plan and I am just wondering what we are looking at for cost.  Anyone's child have one or both done? How much did it cost?

This will be good to know for us, too. If DD's x-ray comes back with the adenoids enlarged, they will probably want to do this procedure.

DS had his out in March, so our bills  aren't in yet, but $3k is a good guess. Pre-op and post-op, plus surgery and anesthesia. It was done in our ent's outpatient surgical suite across the hall from their office.

Is it usually covered by insurance?

Both of my girls had tubes--I don't remember exactly, but the actual charge (insurance covered most of it) it was easily in excess of $3k, not more than $4k.  The highest portion was the hospital charge (which was probably around $3k). 

For DD2, she also had her tear duct scoped at the same time so she had two procedures.  I doubt the hospital charge was much higher, if at all, for the two procedures as opposed to one, because both were so short.

But for adenoid removal--I'm assuming the after-care is a little more involved than just waiting for the child to come out of anesthesia and sending us on our way with some drops for ears and eyes...
