This happened a few days ago and we still can't stop laughing:
We go out to eat and put dd in a high chair. She *always* throws an absolute hysterical, can't be calmed down kind of fit if we strap her into the seat so we generally just let her sit in it unbuckled.
So, she stands up in the high chair during the meal. Dh looked at her and said in a very stern voice, "Sit down now. If you stand up again you're getting the strap! Do you understand?"
The restaurant was really noisy and dh was speaking louder than usual in order to be heard. But, right as he started to talk the noise level in the place suddenly got really quiet and dh's voice could be heard booming loud and clear throughout the entire restaurant.
We were both so embarrassed (but now we think it's hilarious.) Dh was getting glares from people who thought he was threatening to beat down a tiny little wisp of a girl, LOL. I'm sure everyone there thought he was the biggest a$$hold ever.
Re: So, everyone probably thinks my dh is an a$$.
Ha....I just think that its humorous that you have nearly 300 views and 2 replies.
I can see it now..."I can't believe that you find it amusing that your husband yells at your kids" or "can you believe she doesn't strap her kids into the highchair?!?!! OMG!" :::eyeroll::::
That is very funny.
I had this exact same thing happen to me. I generally don't strap DD into the shoping cart as long as she is sitting nicely. But she knows that if she reaches over the cart to get something even once, I fasten her in. So not too long ago, while standing in line to pay, she was eyeing the candy rack. So of course I had to tell her, "If you reach for that candy, you're going to get the belt!"
Yeah, I got those looks too and I was laughing all the way out to the parking lot.
