I know these posts keep getting one starred, but I thought a couple of you might want to know...
Her allergy tests came back clean so the dr said I could back on soy. She's at least intolerant/sensitive to dairy so I need to keep avoiding that.
She's had blood in her diaper one more time since Monday but the dr said to just monitor it to make sure it doesn't get worse.
The blessing in disguise was getting reflux meds while we were there. Since she started those she has been sleeping better and hasn't had a single crying spell. I feel bad that I didn't push harder for meds earlier, but I'm glad we have them now.
Thanks for the good thoughts everyone. ![]()
Re: Update on Cara's blood tests
Ugh, double edged sword --- glad that her test results came back normal but man, it's so frustrating...the not knowing! Hang in there!
And YAY for the sleeping better and lack of crying spells!
Glad the reflux meds are helping! I really hope she keeps doing better!
And ignore the stars.

I'm so glad to hear the reflux meds are helping her.
I thought I'd just share--I have many severe life-threatening food allergies, and when blood tested, for some reason, I come up as negative to EVERYTHING. Which is odd, since I've had severe reactions to nuts, fish, etc. But then skin tests are where the +s show up. If you keep seeing sensitivities with her, you might want to ask for skin tests. The saying in the allergy community is that "reactions trump results" meaning that signs of a reaction are more reliable than the various tests out there.
Thank you for sharing! I know the blood test isn't all that reliable which is why I'm going to keep avoiding dairy. I had soy with dinner tonight if I notice a reaction I'll go right back off of it. And I'm going to be SUPER vigilant as I introduce new foods to her.
That's wonderful that the reflux meds are helping. I'm sure not having to go through the crying spells does a world of good for you!
I am trying to remember your original post and am having a hard time remembering the exact details. I thought DS2 was dairy sensitive and after evaluating things for a while, I realized it was an oversupply issue. I know sometimes that can cause blood in their stool as well. I can't remember everything from your OP though, so you may have mentioned something then that ruled this out. I just thought I'd mention, just in case.
I hope things are just uphill from here for you both!
That's great the reflux meds are helping! I think I mentioned this before, but if she continues having issues, you might want to push for a scratch test with foods that are heavy in your diet. Andersen was negative in the blood test for everything he tested positive for in the scratch test. I don't know anything about the difference in the tests other than he was positive for multiple foods at 6 months, then negative for everything at 12, but still has reactions to everything but soy. If she's doing better, obviously it's nothing you need to worry about.
Hope things continue to improve!
And a big "EFF YOU" to whoever one-stars your posts.
Also, has the possibility of her having MSPI (since you mentioned milk and soy) ever been explored? It really can't be tested for, though. You can find some info here:
