*Sarah* and anyone else interested in Grass Fed Beef

Sarah was asking who we purchased our beef from and I thought I'd post it on here after reading her post below about Organic fruits/veggies.  I thought some of you may be interested too.  You have to buy a whole side of beef, so it is ALOT of meat.  You wold probably want to split it with someone.  It comes in the form of ground beef, roasts and steaks.  The also include the liver which I immediately gave to my MIL...LOL!  Anyway, it's really good beef...here is the most recent email from the farmer, Miles Albright:

Beef Eating Friend,

We have some sides of natural, grass fed beef that are available now, 11 April, 2010.

They weigh approximately 200 lbs each & cost $2.65/lb. for the beef,

and $0.65/lb. for the processing. (That would be $660.00 if the side weighed exactly 200 lbs.). If this seems like it's cheaper than you thought, it's because we are doing our best to keep this in reach of everyone.

Also, the weight is based on the hanging weight of your particular side of beef. There will be a shrink from the hanging weight of about 33%. Some more, some less.

The beef is simply delicious.

The beef is good for you. It has the good fats in it instead of the bad fats produced by grain feeding. And we use no hormones, pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers nor do we

feed antibiotics. We use NO GRAIN.

Call us if you want a side. (Many of our customers share a side with friends or family.)

These beeves can be picked up near Huntsville. Phone #: cell - 256 708 2733; home ? 256 723 2760.

Also, our store, THE RANCH MARKET, is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is located near mile marker 317 on US Highway 431 in New Hope AL. We are about 8 miles south of Huntsville, AL city limits. You can buy single cuts of our grass fed beef there ? you don?t have to buy a whole half. Also, we have pasture pork produced by a group of Amish families in North AL and South TN. We generally have some frozen goat milk as well. We are also stocking local honey. As of 19 April, we will have goat meat.

  • Oh, I thought I would add that when we split a side with someone, what we end up with lasts us about a year.  So, you can factor that in when looking at the cost.

No, we just have a fridge in the garage and I use that freezer.  We also have the extra fridge downstairs that I use for even more freezer space.

  • Thanks! I think my fil is going to split it with us. Now I just need to get the shed built and buy a fridge lol
