To me this seems ridiculous but apparently several people around our age, including nurses have sworn to DH that it has worked for them. DD's Pedi said we should drink the rum

Have you done this?! WDYT?

Re: Rum for teething

Wine works for us! LOL. No, we don't give our DD alcohol for teething, though it seems like the older generations swear by it. If you do it though, don't admit it here or else you will surely get flamed by someone (not me).
ETA: to clarify, we drink the wine to get through G's teething. But I figured most of you understood that. We don't give G anything except motrin, teething tablets, ice cubes or other cold things in mesh feeders and lots of TLC.
I've heard people joke about instead of giving it to LO, drink it yourself to get through the teething process.
Well, yeah, of course it "works". Alcohol is a depressant. Take a shot of Rum and see how you feel.
Have *I* given my infant hard liquor? Of course not. Because it's a DEPRESSANT and can cause a small child's systems to begin to shut down, even in very small amounts. It would only take a thimble full of some liquors to bring a child's blood alcohol level above the legal driving limit for adults or for alcohol poisoning to occur.
Do you mean rub it on LO's gums and you drink the rum?
Either way, no I will not being using hard liquor as a teething aid.
OMG, I feel sick reading this.
