Clicky poll for the bored.

I want to move Ian out of the crib - I think it's time (though he never climbed out once and doesn't seem to mind it).  DH and I are at odds over this for some reason.  I want to do the full size bed, he wants to convert to the toddler bed.[Poll]

  • I voted for highschool.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

When he DOES get out, do a normal bed.  Toddler beds are only useful for a short time, have a low weight limit so you can't curl up on it & read with them, etc... and then you have to get a real bed anyway.

  • he is even younger than Gav and I am not even considering moving Gav.
  • DD never climbed out of her crib either and we moved her straight into a full sized bed at about 2 1/2 years old.
  • Whats the rush to move him out of the crib? Once we moved dd out, that seemed to be when her sleep troubles began and we waited until she started climbing out and not a moment sooner.

My DS never climbed out of the crib but we just felt like it was time kwim? We moved him to full size bed and have never looked back.  He made the change like a champ and even ditched his pacificer a few weeks later and still never got out of bed.   I like the full size bed because he can roll around at night and not fall out...he is a crazy restless sleeper.

  • Well part of the reason is because I want to potty train soon.  Not that he'll be night trained for awhile ...the other reason is that he's quite tall for his age so he's starting to seem too big for the crib.

    This.

When we moved DS out of his crib he started having lots of trouble sleeping (still does).  DD will be in hers for as long as possible.

  • If he seems to be getting too big for the crib, that's also a strike against a toddler bed - they use the crib mattress and are the same size.
  • We went from crib to twin.  Mainly because I didn't want to deal with two transitions.
