The best man in our wedding is getting married tomorrow. DH is obviously in the wedding. We asked my mom to watch the girls weeks ago, and we were all good to go. It now seems that my mom has strep throat (sorry, Mom).
She did not say she couldn't watch them, but it was obvious she was hurting, and I know how bad it s*cked when I had it. I told her I'd figure it out, but now I don't know what to do.
Both his mom and his dad and step-mom are invited to the wedding. So they can't do it. Our grandmothers are all not in any shape to watch 2 kids, much less over night. (Yes, it would have to be over night).
I would totally be ok with skipping the festivities, but I don't think DH would appreciate it too much.
Sorry, just a vent, I guess.
Re: Sigh, now what?
That SUCKS! I'm usually in the same boat because my parents are really my only babysitters (I need to work on that). So, whenever someone we both know gets married, I'm scrambling.
Is it at a hotel? Can you get a room and bring a teenager from your neighborhood or hire one of those sitting services? If they were at the hotel, then you could check on them.
Does she have anti-biotics? If so she will feel 100% better by tomorrow, most likely. I have had it 2 this year. The 1st time, I let it go too long and I had to do three rounds of antibiotics, but the second time, it went away fast.
Alternately, can you ask your friends for babysitter recs? I had one cancel on me last minute and was able to get one after I sent a note to my friends.
I don't think she's seen the doctor yet. Hope she plans to.
It's not at a hotel... it's at a Legion hall.
It's only about a half hour away, but the way these people party? Yeah, it's going to be a loooong day/night. And he just won't be happy if I don't try to stick it out.
We have never had anyone but family watch the girls. I'm not sure we're ready to try someone else at this late notice, you know? And actually, none of my friends have used babysitters either. We're weird, I know.
I'm sure we'll figure something out, but it just s*cks. And of course I want my mom to feel better!
Well I wonder how she got strep
This totally blows. I know how you feel. I hope you can find someone to watch them so you can go and have some fun!
Gee, NO clue how that happened. My niece just had it too. AND DH said his throat started hurting this morning. AWESOME.
I honestly don't want to go. I love they guy, but I just don't have fun at these things. I'm not a wedding person. But I can't exactly tell DH that I don't want to go to his best friend's wedding. Bad wifey.
Maybe one of your friends can watch the girls for a while so you can at least get through the wedding, dinner, and part of the reception.
Or would your DDs like to have a sleepover at one of their friend's houses? Maybe one of their moms would feel for you and take them. Then you can reciprocate and have the friend over the next weekend?
