How did you find out you were having multiples?

For you ladies who were not expecting to have multiples, how did you find out? A regular appointment, was it because you were pretty big for your due date? How far along were you? I haven't had any ultrasounds yet, and I keep dreaming about multiples!

I had an early ultrasound because of a history of ectopic pregnancies so I knew at about 6 weeks.

The only way to know is by ultrasound.

At a routine u/s that my OB did for all of his patients, to rule out ectopic pregnancies. It was at 7w3d.

At my first ultrasound at 7 weeks.  My Dr. was like...does twin run in your family?...Yes.  Well congradulations!!!!  We are seeing two sacs. 

Oh and before I found out I was pregnant.  I had a dream that I was pregnant with twins and they were both boys.  I'll find out for sure next thursday.

I had a miscarriage in the fall so my doctor sent me for an early ultrasound at 7 weeks.  I joked with my husband while we waited to go in..."Imagine if she told us we are having twins!  What would you say?"  Much to our surprise, about 10 minutes later we were getting the news that there are two babies in there!  Twins!!  We were shocked!  We think that someone up there just didn't think we were ready a few months ago, and decided to hold on to our little one for a while, and now we have it back!!  We couldn't be happier!

It was my regularly scheduled u/s at 20 weeks.  I'd been to the dr for checkups at 12w and 16w, and they did not suspect them then.  We heard a heartbeat at 12w.

My Dr. always does a routine u/s early in pregnancy to check dates. I was 7w5d.

History of miscarriage so when we found out we were prego doc wanted to check hcg levels over a two day period, went in for blood work (first day), called me the next to come in that afternoon to do an u/s (was completely freaked bc thought something was wrong) found out that afternoon DH and I were expecting twins at 5w3d

At my 18 week big u/s- we never suspected anything and I only popped around 17 or 18 weeks, my Dr. commented at one appointment how I should watch my sweets intake because I had gained quite a bit, when I seen him again after that I told him about his comment and told him why :P

I had a m/c the month before we got pregnant so my Dr wanted to check my hormone levels as soon as I got pregnant.  At 4 wks my levels were pretty high....which got me curious.  At 5 weeks I stared getting very sick (never got sick with my first).  So I actually said to DH and mom and friends maybe it's twins...kidding around because they are not in the family.  Then had an u/s at 6wks and the sonographer saw two sacs.  Actually she thought there may have been three for about 2 mintues... which completely freaked out DH.  I just kept saying "I knew it". And DH didn't even say a word....it was pretty funny!  It was a wonderful surprise!  Took a few weeks to really sink in

routine u/s at my first appointment to date the pregnancy, I was 10 weeks

I went in for my annual PAP with the intention of getting my next Depo shot right after but the medical assistant came in and said she couldn't give me the shot because my urine pg test came back positive. When the Dr came in the room I told him his assistant tested the wrong urine so, he should have her retest it. He said,"I'll do you one better, since to sono machine is in the next room we could check there and be 100% sure. Being a nurse, when he put the probe on me I saw the two sacs before him and scared the poor Doc when I screamed....lol (I was 10wks along) I can laugh about it now, but the idea of being pg again and with twins was not easy to digest. We're happy about it now and look forward to becoming a family of EIGHT.....wow 8!!!!!

I started spotting and had an u/s at 6w4d to check for viability. Surprise! Twins! Otherwise I wouldn't have had any clue until our 18w u/s.
