anniversary ideas

I don't usually post on here considering I have no child and I am not pregnant. However I posted on the nest and no one responded so I thought I would try here.Our first anniversary is coming up and we need ideas. We are from Cincinnati and currently live in Del Rio. We are planning to go to San Antonio for the weekend and want to do something special for our first anniversary. So I am looking for recommendations on where to stay, where to eat, a bakery to get a replica of our cake topper, and any other suggestions. I am open to it all. We usually stay at the Marriott downtown, but we cannot decide if we should stay on the riverwalk or not. Give opinions. Thanks!

if it's in the budget, I would see if you can stay at the new JW Marriott resort in north san antonio. I've heard its incredible and it would be a great getaway. There are some nice restaurants in the area, or you could eat at the hotel.

We thought about that, but then I heard it would take us like 30 minutes to drive to a hotel or shopping. Is that true or is there shopping and restaurants nearby?

There's a large shopping center at Stone Oak Pkwy and 281N. There are tons of restaurants nearby. It might take you a little bit to drive to a restaurant but honestly if I was staying there for just a few days I would probably just eat at the hotel restaurants, which are supposed to be great. If you wanted to go downtown it would take you 30-45 minutes.

 

Some hotels downtown I would recommend are Westin Riverwalk, Hotel Contessa, La Mansion del Rio, and Hotel Valencia. The Watermark is an amazing hotel downtown but it is is $$$$.
