Where is everyone or getting or already bought thier nursery furniture from? I want solid wood pieces that will grow with the baby from baby-toddler-teen. So far I found Babies Dream line which is solid wood at a store called Sugarplum Dreams however antique black is not an available color and that is the finish I was really hoping for.
Anyone, ideas?
Re: Nursery Furniture
I went to sugarplum dreams last week and really liked a munire crib. my DD crib is from Babies 1st Furniture, brand is creations:

i'm not sure what 2nd crib i will purchase yet... JC Penney also has some good crib selections.
Here is my advice- take it however you want
We splurged on a Munire convertible crib (thankyouverylittle Baby Bargains.) It's beautiful, solid wood, and is black (which for some reason is more expensive than any other color. And of course I had to have black!! haha)
We also splurged on 2 really nice dressers, a tall one and a short, longer one, both Munire.
I am very happy with our dressers... she'll have them forever, there's nothing "babyish" about them.
I wish we would have gone with a cheaper crib- she has chewed the top of it and it looks terrible. We'll be able to refinish it... but still.
My reasoning is this- I really don't think I'll use the crib once I make her room a "big girl room." I'll either put her in a twin bed (so I couldn't use the crib) or a queen- I just think doubles are pointless... so I will never use the headboard and the footboard since they are made for a double bed.
So I'm glad we bought high quality furniture... but I wish I would have bought a cheaper crib...
Oh, and of course, the place were we did buy our furniture went out of business... which is too bad bc they had lovely things
So my advice- buy a good dresser or two and save money by buying an inexpensive crib. All cribs have to pass rigorous tests to make sure they're safe... so it's not a matter of one being safer than another.. it's more about solid wood, type of wood (pine vs. walnut) etc...
Ditto on what Lauren said about getting a cheaper crib. Just don't get any drop-side crib! Those keep getting re-called. We bought a mid-line price drop-side crib from BRU. It's been ok. The drop-side actually got stuck in the "up" position, so it's really not working - but I'm not messing with it for fear that" it'll get stuck in the "down" position!!
We have a full sized bed in our guest room that will become DS's bed when he outgrows his crib. We will just put the matress on the floor to make it into a "toddler" bed.
Great advice thankyou!! BTW..Sugarplum Dreams on Basse sells Munire. I loved thier furniture.. Babies Dream is very comprable but a little cheaper. the crib alone was $569.00 I think I will order the double dresser with hutch and see if I can match a cheaper crib from BRU.
If you really want the Antique Black, I'd call the manufacturer at 1-800-tel-crib. They might have some left at their manufacturing site. They did a few months ago when I was looking for furniture for DD. Their Espresso finish is REALLY dark, if you haven't seen it in person, you should... I was going to get that until I found out I was having a girl, then I decided to go sweet and girly with a white set.
