WWYD Rear-Facing Toddlers?

Alright- per our Pediatrician's suggestion & personal research, I'm going to try to keep Mason rear-facing until 2 yrs old...preferably up to 35lbs if he'll let me BUT he's started this awful thing where he tries standing up pushing his feet/legs into the back of the seat when I buckle him in. It's completely annoying!

Anyone have any tips- his struggle makes it at least an additional 5-10 min challenge getting him securely fastened in.

  • even forward facing, Avery is sometimes hard to get in the car seat - we usually bribe her with Cheerios.

But..>I'm an awesome mom like that.

  • Ugh - I know what you mean and it sucks.  I have had to physically restrain J sometimes to get in her seat, and it's still a pain now that she's FF (we turned her at 2). I usually try distraction - food, toy, drink, unfortunately, it doesn't always work....
  • Hannah was so tall that there was no way we could keep her rear facing because her legs would have been all bunched up.  :(  I turned her at about 14 months.

She is 4 and is only 34 pounds  ;)

  • Alright..well sounds like we may just struggle but it does make me feel better {sorry don't mean this badly!} to know that some people still have struggles with FF.  There's a small part of me that wanted to swap him around because he's started getting fussy in car rides again too {I have a DVD player but he can't see it RF}.

    Amanda-

Don't feel bad if you make the decision to go FF.  Allie was getting the same way, and was finally 20 lbs, so we turned her 2-3 weeks ago.  She has been so much better!

    Allie ~ 01/26/09 ~ 7 lbs, 9 oz ~ 20.75 in. & Amelia ~ 03/16/11 ~ 8 lbs, 1 oz ~ 21 in.

Exact same thing for Kenley.  Although she's not even 2 and already 30 lbs. Wink
