I am wondering what a good wrap for a small baby would be. My daughter
is a preemie (born at 32 wks) and should be around 5 lbs when she comes
home. Can I use a wrap with her? TIA for any information.
If you're talking about swaddling wraps, we found that a receiving blanket always worked best for us. The preemie sized SwaddleMe swallowed DD whole and she came home around 5 lbs too.
Yes, you can. I used a wrap for DS starting with the day after he came home. Rather than buy a Moby, I went to Walmart and bought 5 yds of a tshirt type fabric. Cut it down the middle and you have 2 wraps for like $10.
Just be careful that your LO has a clear breathing space (wrap's not covering her mouth) and that her chin is not tucked down to her chest where her airway isn't open. Slings are notoriously bad for this and can cause suffocation.
My little boy came home at 35 weeks gestational age (born at 32) and he was around 4 lbs 11 oz coming home. I just used what the NICU used, receiving blankets. He tends to kick out of them but we have enough clothes on him that he stays warm enough. Most of the other things out there (sleep sacks and so on) are too big for him..or were too big. He is inching up on 6 lbs now!
We had the preemie SwaddleMe and DS was too long. He was 5lb. 7oz and about 18in. when he came home. We just used receiving blankents. They seemed to work best.
If you buy receiving blankets, check the size on the package. The Carter's ones we got were 30x30 and worked for a few weeks, but they quickly became too small to swaddle him. Look for ones that are more like 40x40.

Good luck!
