I have a nurturing complex

I think that I have a problem needing to "nurture" things..... why do I feel that it is so necessary?!

1. I am always the one who takes care of my friends when their "lives are falling apart" they cry to me, talk to me, depend on me, even call me when they are sick.

2. I am a RN, I "nurture" for a living.

3. I have 2 dogs

4. I have 3 cats- one lives with my parents

5. When I went to Florida in March I bought two hermit crabs.... how old am I? 2???? oh dear.

I need a new hobby. Everytime I have a failed cycle I want a new pet... EEEK!

  • I don't think this it's a "problem" unless it's causing you harm.  You're a woman, it's innate.  But you may want to only buy new pets that don't require a lot of care, $, or that live for a really long time.  Don't buy a turtle! Stick out tongue

  • I think a lot of us have a lot of unchanneled parental energy.  We have 2 cats, and I always joked that having any more cats would make me 'the crazy cat lady'.  But now, I really want a kitten.  I saw the episode of 'The Closer' where they get a kitten.  So cute!  Then, the other day my neighbors found a mom cat and 3 tiny kittens in the bushes between our yards.  I had seen the mom around the neighborhood--I think she belonged to some people who moved away and left her.  The tiny kittens--triple cuteness!  We put the mom and babies in a travel container and took them to the Humane Society.  They said that they all looked healthy (if a bit dehydrated and emaciated) and would not get put down.  But I still want a kitten!
