NBR: Summer vacation ideas?

I live in Rockland County (20-30 min from NYC).  DH and I are looking for a place to vacation with our two kids this summer (8 and 2).  We would like to rent a home on/near a beach somplace drive-able (within a few hours).  Any ideas?  TIA!
