So here's the deal. I cook dinner every night and it is 90% of the time
healthy things, but I don't eat a lot. Sometimes I forget to eat (like
today I honestly can't remember if I ate lunch or breakfast). I really
need to lose about 15lbs to get to my *happier* place (30 is my ideal goal) . I am still not
released to exercise because of my blood pressure and white and red
blood cells (even though I am doing light training for a marathon)
Anyways I haven't gone on a diet in over 6 years when I dropped all
sugar, carbs, and fast food and lost over 100lbs. Anyone on a diet
besides WW or JC or the *chain* diets?
Re: Diet ?
I did Jillian's Making The Cut 30-day diet and it was fab-u-lous. You take a test in the beginning that breaks down your metabolism type and nutrition requirements. From there she outlines 30 days worth of meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. You don't have to follow it exactly (hello- swordfish is so 2003). She tells you which of the trend diets actually will work for your metabolism. I felt better than I ever have in my life. She has a specific workout schedule, but that's something you could really flex. I'm also loving her Yoga/ Pilates/ Cardio dvd.
I think the point of the whole project was learning what my food requirements were and what works best for my body. There are so many things I realize now and can anticipate when I eat something. Plus I'm allergic to preservatives and red 40- who knew?

I'm counting calories (the old fashioned way)
I stay between 1,200 and 1,300 and I'm hoping to lose a little over 30 pounds. I would be thrilled with 15, but 30 is the ultimate goal.
good luck with your weight loss goals. Your past of losing 100lbs is incredible - I'm sure you've got the tools and motivation to make it happen this time, too!

I don't think I am getting enough calories. I am probably consuming between 800-1000 calories a day if that. I am not gaining weight and I am losing it (i have lost a lot of the baby weight and can fit into my old clothes) I am just trying to get back to a happier place.
If you are consuming under 1500 calories a day, you may be inadvertently sabotaging your own efforts by putting your body into starvation mode. I speak from (unfortunate) experience here. I massively screwed up my metabolism by going on very low-calorie diets, just counting calories and doing lots of cardio. I definitely lost weight, but it wasn't a realistic long-term eating plan, and when I stopped, my metabolism was massively out of whack, and I gained weight at the drop of a hat.
I'm currently overweight, and eventually I'd like to get down to a healthier weight, but I'm not sure how to best do that without a commercial "diet" and/or unhealthy tactics that have worked for me in the past.

maybe tracking what you eat would help more of the good stuff? You need more than 800 calories a day! I know some people see a lot more change when they get enough calories, so your body doesn't have to work so hard to hold onto every calories. It's all about being efficient!

I filled out A LOT after college and packed on 20 pounds at Dell in no time flat. I definitely discovered the benefit of eating MORE calories. It was so weird that adding snacks made the pounds fall off but it's all about fueling your metabolism. If your body gets what it needs, it doesn't hold on to every last calorie not knowing when the next meal may come
I try to stay between 1200-1500 calories a day. It sounds to me like you are not getting enough calories. I've used Sparkpeople in the past to track my calories and I'm using the Lose It app on my phone now.
