We are taking my 4 yr old daughter to Sesame Place (in July) for the first time. Did anyone stay at Radisson Hotel? Is it good? Where did you stay? How was the food situation at the park? Expensive? Is there places to eat near the park? Any suggestions on what to do while there? What was your favorite thing to do or see there?
Thanks!
Re: Sesame Place advice needed
We stayed at the Radisson. It was a nice hotel. It was clean and the rooms were a good size. The food in the park was expensive. It wasn't great, but wasn't awful either. There is food not too far from the park, but I can't really remember where we ate. At the park make sure you stay for the parade. That was DS's favorite part.
We went to adventure aquarium while we were there, it was OK.
We have season passes but we live close and have never stayed over.
The food isn't bad. There are a few choices. You can buy a meal in 2 different cafes. They have hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, fries, salads and stuff like that. The other option is to eat w/the characters. It's a little pricey (you can find the exact prices on the website) but its a buffet, it's in an air conditioned building with assigned seating (unlike the cafeterias, which are hard to get seats in), no strollers inside (easier to move around) and all of the major characters come in for pictures. Everyone except for Elmo comes to your table for pictures. Elmo has his own station. We do this once or twice per season because DD loves it.
If the hotel does not supply transportation and you have to drive & park, you can bring a lunch to eat in the parking lot. There are also a bunch of chain resturauns and a mall food court w/in walking distance.
I prefer to stay in the park and eat light during the day, then go out for dinner.
DD loves Count Splash Castle. That was by far her favorite attraction.
If you are going on a weekend be prepared for it to be crazy crowded. And over run with teens. We still go, even with all of that, because we are used to it by now.
We usually do the water stuff for the first 1/2 of the day then change and do the dry rides. There are dressing areas in the bathrooms and lockers to rent if you need them. We usually just pack everything in a stroller though.
Let me know if you have specific questions! Have fun!
I live about 2 miles from the park and am doing season passes this year. I haven't been in the park since high school but know many people getting season passes so figured we'd join in. It is on the outskirts of Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, PA and there are quite a few chain restaurants nearby: Charlie Brown's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, TGI Fridays, Bertucci's, etc.
I will not be bringing food to the park, I'll pack sandwiches and snacks in my bag and was told you could bring a small cooler. I know someone that brings a huge water bottle filled with ice and re-fills while she's there.
Not sure how long you'll be in town but there are definitely other fun things to do(especially if you go into Philly). The Please Touch museum is supposed to be awesome(many friends are passholders), The Philadelphia Zoo(again know passholders), the Camden Aquarium, the Franklin Institute, Smith Family Playplace, etc.
Just be careful, you can only bring in a soft sided cooler for formula & medically necessary items. You can get away with "snacks" but they won't let you bring in sandwiches or drinks, They told me I could bring in bottled water only because I was using it to mix formula.
