This is weird - at least to me. I am 24 weeks with b/g twins. They have become more active in the last week with deliberate, identifiable movements (not just soft rolls anymore). Baby A (boy) is low, head-down. I swear he's rubbing his head along the bottom of my uterus! Anyway, this weekend I started feeling a weird popping type of a sensation internally...low. [By popping, I mean like how you feel when you move a burp or puff out an air fart...sorry, TMI!] To get specific, the location feels like it is up my vagina where I envision my cervix is, or where the bottom of my uterus is. But it definately feels like it is *up* there, and feels in the middle of me...so it's not in front like by my belly or behind like by my back.
Has anyone ever felt this? I googled it and some people report this sensation in 8th/9th month..when baby gets low -- which makes me LITTLE nervous because they are not done cooking! But on the other hand I feel like it's probably normal because baby is already so low (simply b/c he's running out of room!).
I go to perinatologist every 1-2 weeks (watching a short cervix and monitored bleeding from wks 21 & 22 from low-lying placenta), and they haven't noticed anything. I am going tomorrow and will ask...but this is really a weird sensation!
Re: Ever feel a 'popping' sensation near cervix?
Not saying that it is related, but I started noticing this right before my 26w4d appointment where they detected PTL... For me it was kinda like I thought my cervix was shortening with every "pop." I had been going to the OB every two weeks up until that point, and I had just told a couple friends that I was going to request weekly appointments just to keep my mind at ease...
I'm sure they will notice tomorrow at your appointment if anything is wrong. Trust your peri and keep us updated!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone!
Last poster - what is PTL?
the feeling was not quite as you describe. but i had very little cervix (U funnel), and baby a had both her little feet crammed down in there. peri promised me she could not kick her way out!
Yes, I feel that sensation often. In fact, I feel it...now. I've just been assuming it's Baby A stomping or maybe punching.
This is me exactly, but was going to mention it to my OB next week.
My thoughts exactly. I have definitely been experiencing what you're describing, sometimes it's to the point where I find myself half-lifting up my belly as if to say "Stop doing that baby!!" It doesn't last for long though before they switch positions.
