Can you wash light up shoes?

Has anyone successfully washed theirs in the washer where they still lit up after?  Sam stepped in dog poop and I really don't want to wash them by hand.

I haven't washed them, but DD took a very long walk in a rainstorm once (and splashed in every puddle).  The shoes were soaked through and still lit up.

Yes, we've had two different brands that survived many wash and dry cycles.
