Where would be some places in central/south austin to host a baby shower of approx 30 people. Preferably where we could do appetizers or sandwiches...not really serve a full meal. TIA!

    The Knot may have some suggestions - similar to places that do rehearsal dinners. There's a few places downtown with private rooms and not terribly expensive minimums - I just can't think of any names right now. Need coffee!

    I don't know how much it was, but the last baby shower I attended was at the Texican Cafe in S. Austin (actually Manchaca).  We had a private room and they did a buffet table of appetizers - nachos, taquitos, etc.  It was yummy and the service was really great.  The staff moved tables for a game (and then moved them back), made sure our drinks were full, etc. all with happy faces and no annoyed sighing noises.
