WDYT of this name?

Ok so jumping the gun, but I recently read The Golden Compass and the heroine is a little girl named Lyra.  I kind of liked it at first but I am not much for unique names (its a "real" name, just not popular in the US).  I still kind of liked it because it was simple and pretty.  Our last name is a nightmare (long and hard to pronounce) so short simple names are all that's on the list for our phantom baby.

Anyway, the further on in the book, and the more often I saw the name, the more I liked it.  Plus the character is exactly the kind of independent little girl I would like to raise.  DH doesn't really like it.  WDYT?

I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

    this exactly

  • It is pretty....and I know what you mean about last names.  I thought my Italian maiden name was bad...but this german one I have now is quite a mouthful!

Don't worry about DH...he'll come around when you need him to.

This! Also, we are friends with a couple who have a 10 yr old daughter named Lyra. She is the sweetest, most gentle child.  The name fits her perfectly.

  • Thanks for the input ladies!  I think I will keep it on the "list."  I wish I could stop myself from even thinking about stuff like names and nursery colors until I was actually pregnant, but what are you gonna do?
