Induction ?

Since I have GD I know that I have a chance of being induced at 39 weeks. So far LO is growing on schedule and my doctor is happy. I was just wondering how big does baby have to be to be induced. I've meant to ask my doc. I figured I would see if any of your doctors have said how big is too big? Thanks!

I know most doctors like to induce at 39 weeks not just because of size but because of placental deterioration. Every doctor is different though. I was told that I would not go past 39 weeks even though lo has been measuring perfect. As of right now I have an induction set for 37+3 because of high BP. I've noticed that the care is completely different for all the ladies on this board with GD though so I think it really depends on your unique situation and your doctor. There does not seem to be a set standard.

I was told that I would be induced at 38 or39 weeks depending on her size, but they didn't say what size they were looking for to make that decision.  Last week a different doc told me that because my last two were so small, that my body would mostlikey decide to go into labor early when this one bypasses the weight of the last two.  my last two were both 6.14 and 21 inches long, and this one is supposed to be at LEAST 8 pounds @ 39 weeks!!

my OB won't let his GD patients go past 39 weeks no matter the size of the baby or if they are diet controlled/meds/insulin.  I'm completely diet controlled and the baby is measuring fine (maybe even a little small) and I'm being induced on Monday at 38 weeks 5 days.  Definitely ask your doc since it does seem to be different for everyone.

That is a great questions - I will be induced by 39 weeks too but I am definitly going to have to ask about this.  I know I am getting a growth us at 34 and 38 weeks.  Thanks - I am putting this on my question list.

Thanks ladies! I go Wednesday to see my doc and I will ask again about what exactly will happen. I don't have any problem with LO arriving early. I am soo ready for her to be here!

Same for me. Dr. won't let me go wast 39 weeks either. I am diet controlled and my baby measured at 55 percentile at the growth scan.

I am on meds and diet and baby is measuring in the 69 percentile
