I am not sure where to ask this...
I took met to get pregnant with DS taking 500mg 3x a day. To up the dose it went 500mg 1x a day for a week, 500mg 2x a day for a week, and then 500mg 3x's. I tolerated this fairly well.
This time I am taking 850mg 1x a day for 2 weeks and then upping the dose to 850mg 2x a day. I am having a little more trouble starting out at a higher dose.
My question is since you start out at a lower dose so your body will get use to it and hopefully reduce the side effects do you think it would help if I called my dr. and asked if I could take 1.5 pill for a week before going up to the full dosage? Or do you think I should bite the bullet and double the dose? The side effects are starting to lesson if it makes a difference.
Re: Question about metformin (warning baby in sig)
My RE told me that the body will build up its tolerance and I slowly worked may way up to the final dosage. I would build up and not bite the bullet. The met isn't going to work its magic if its making you sick. Good luck!
I've been on Met (3-500 mg pills per day) since July and I still have horrible s/e from it. I absolutely hate Met. I started off with 1 pill for a week, 2 pills for a week..ect.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I didn't think of that.
Thanks for the replies
Are you taking regular met or the Extended realease.
If it is the XR DO NOT BREAK IT! Extedned release pills are specifically desigined to slwoly relase the drug over a period of time. Breaking it would ruin the designed oof the pill causing too much to be realease at one time.
If you are not on the XR you could ask to be switched. It apprently has fewer side effect. I just started taking mine 3 weeks ago I am now up to full does and I have only had problems twice.
Also are you taking it with food? I take all 3 of mine in the evening after dinner.
