I think I have seen it spelled both ways for a boys first name. Right? Which do you prefer. or Read maybe an extra Y for kicks, Ryead? I kid. Thoughts?
I've almost always seen it spelled Reid, with the exception of my brother. My grandfather is the last male in the family to carry on the last name Reed, so my mother gave my brother the middle name Reed in honor of my grandfather.
This. I think it is the double E that throws me off. Reid looks a lot more like a name - if that makes sense?
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Both variations came from surnames and they are about equally popular. My grandmother's maiden name was Reed and my Father and Brother's middle name is Reed so this spelling was obviously the one we chose. I personally think it looks better, but I've also been seeing it my whole life. Reid is a bit more popular these days. I think it is sort of like having the preference for Sara or Sarah. Everyone has one that they like better.
i've always preferred the spelling reed, not sure why. i guess it's the 'i before e' thing that makes reid look weird to me but they're both common enough that i don't think it would matter which you chose.

Same for me!
This.
I prefer Reid. I have only seen this spelling for the name.
When I see reed, I immediately think of the piece of material you use when playing the clarinet, or other woodwind instrument.

Reid.
We didn't even consider the spelling Reed.
