I was recently diagnosed with a very rare type of gestational tumor in my uterus. This tumor does not respond to chemo and the only way to treat and cure this is to have a hysterectomy. I am only 28 and we were planning to try for baby #2 very soon. I'm absolutely heartbroken, but the Dr. assures us my ovaries can be saved and I can have my eggs frozen. I'm not even sure how we would feel about surrogacy, and financially I don't think that's an option for us. Same thing goes for adoption. Is anyone else here going through something similar? I wasn't sure which board this really belonged on.

Thoughts from an Overwrought Mind

Welcome. I'm sorry you have to be here (and I do think you belong). I haven't been through this so I don't have any advice, but I'm sorry that you have to go through this.
Hopefully after you recover from the surgery you'll be able to do some more research and find a way to build your family that works for you. I hope that recovery is speedy.
I am so sorry you are going through this. How devastating.
I believe there was a woman on here a year or two ago that had to have a hystorectomy. I believe she posts at times on the Success after IF board. I believe she chose to adopt - but she may be able to help answer some of your questions. I would post on that board and see if the ladies can lead you to her.
Again - I am so sorry you are going through this.
Thank you IVF for our little miracles!!
I am very sorry for your diagnosis. I run the DE/GC check in (donor egg/embryo / gestational carrier check in). We post on Tuesdays and there is the link to the latest check-in.

Once you have had time to heal, page KoCoLoCo either here or on the Multples Board. She has twins through a gc and is always happy to talk to people considering that path.
Also, there are a couple of ladies on the check-in that are using known carriers (or at least planning to). They check-in more sporadically but I am sure they are willing to help as well.
Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your illness and your upcoming surgery. Like BRS said, I have twins thanks to a gestational surrogacy. If you ever get to the point where you might want to consider that route, I would be happy to share my experiences with you.
