formula feeding MoMs

Random question, but on average, how many cans of formula do you keep "in stock" in your house?

MH thinks I am a freak because I always have 8 or so in the cupboard.  I stock up when it's on sale and refuse to pay full-price, so I always have back stock in case it's awhile until the next sale.  :)

Re: formula feeding MoMs

  • I buy it by the case from diapers.com so I usually have alot.  I never go below 2 cans.
  • He'd think I'm a total freak then!  I once had up 20 at a time.  I used Nestle GoodStart and there was a time period when BRU had the 25% more free cans AND they were on sale. I couldn't stop myself!  The checker looked at me like I was insane, but I was trying to get enough to see us through the first year.

  • We always have between and 8 and 10 cans in the house. :)
  • I think the lowest we ever had was 5 cans.  At one point the boys were on different formulas and we had like 40 cans in the house.

  • sounds good.  it's not like you're not going to use it before it expires!  we usually get 2 at a time, b/c the goodstart seems to always be low stock.  when there are more, i will get 6 at most.  still bugs to spend so much at one time.

  • I never got below 2.

About 6 weeks ago their formula (Up&Up generic Similac brand) went on clearance at Target for less than $5 a can and I bought all they had and ended up with 40 cans at home. We still have probably 20-25 right now. I don't think we will ever have to buy anymore since they are 10 months now. Any extra we have left over I will donate to a shelter.

  • We always bought when it was on sale, so we could have anywhere from 2 to 10 cans at a time!  We use Enfamil Lipil Premium and they have 20% more free cans sometimes and we buy 3 or 4 at a time!
  • We use the ready to feed bottles & buy by the case at BJs, usually about 5-6 cases at a time (40-48 bottles) and replenish when we have 1 case left.

  • Since they are both on different formulas I usually have a total of around 20 cans in the house. I also refuse to pay full price so I buy in bulk when there is a sale, or when my checks are going to expire.

I've also gotten some good deals on ebay.

  • We keep 12+ in stock at all times.  We got through that in a week!

  • I am horrible.  With Lauryn, she is on nutramigen (never on sale) so I always have hers in stock.  Ava is on gentlease and one time I thought I had more and I had to run out that night so she would have formula for the next day.  I never have backup for her, I am usually at BJs once a week anyway so I pick it up every other week.

  • We usually got about 6 cans of a time. I am a huge fan of stocking up and never paying full price!

  • I usually have 20 or so cans in the cabinet.  Once I got down to 8 cans and I started getting nervous. =)
  • I get about 9 per month, we get them 1 month at a time.  If you know you're going to use it, why not stock up?
