I'm trying to get DS off his puree thing and onto foods with more texture. I baked up a sweet potato and mashed some of it with some banana.... and he keeps gagging.
Guess I'll try again tomorrow. I was so proud of myself.
I'd have to agree...doesn't sound appetizing to me either...although DS gagged when we gave him green beans for the first time...it took a while for it to grow on him.
My bad then, I never saw it. Jake never really ate purees for long. But I have noticed that the store bought banana purees are pretty mashed up, so they have a different consistency. It could just be the texture. I honestly have never thought to mix banana with a veggie, just fruit.

sweet potato & banana sounded gross to me too (but I give mine banana avocado & I know the daycare teachers all think it is disgusting...but they eat it up!) ..have you done sweet pot & apple? maybe to ease him in use the apple pureed & the sweet potato a little chunkier so that it isnt all chunky.
DD (8months) is a tough one w/ eating even purees and I actually just moved her to more table like food instead of doing the chunky purees b/c she always gags on everything> I still do purees but add in things like bread/pancake/waffle, small chopped cooked carrots & potatoes, ground turkey. (so far). She has done ok with those!
DS will eat purees like crazy but also doesnt like the chunky purees & does better w/ some small finger foods too.
They are all different. the food thing was really stressing me out for awhile but now I'm just trying to be brave & try new things even thought I get freaked out.
Ha.. Sweet potato and banana sounds pretty good to me about right now. Maybe I should eat breakfast. Anyway, we just had lots of luck last night with sweet potato/pear combo. No gags.
Re: Sweet potatoes + bananas = fail
sweet potato and banana sounds a little gross....
try these recipes..maybe he'll like them a little better.

Maybe try sweet potato and peaches. I used to give that to my older DD all the time and she loved it.
Also, some babies are weird about texture. I know people who had their kids on purees until 10 or 11 months and its totally normal.

Really? He's had that combo as an organic puree before. Our local store brand sells it.
Hmm...
oh really?
