Just got the results and I came up at a higher risk for down's than normal 1:100. Which is a little low for my age (36).
I had a u/s last week and they didn't see any markers, which probably means I shouldn't worry...but the worry keeps creeping in.
I am hoping that some of you came up positive on the Down's screening (and did not do an amnio) and there were no issues later.
Thanks
Re: Second Tri Screening
Thanks for responding, it made me feel a little better! Looks like we are in the same boat.
Have they done the second set of bloodwork yet? That changed my percentages from 1:122 after the 2nd ultrasound to 1:1,800. Also, if you're really worried, you can have an amnio at any time so you know for sure. Good luck!
That was the second set of bloodwork. My first was 1:500. I have to remember it was just a screening and that same day I had an in depth ultrasound and they saw nothing to indicate anything off.
You are right. I will get another ultrasound next week, so if anything pops up I will just go ahead with the amnio.
My results came back as 1:26 chance of downs. I wasn't going to get the amnio, but ended up changing my mind b/c I didn't want to worry for the rest of my pregnancy. I just needed to KNOW. Everything came back totally normal.
Just remember, 1 in 100 are GREAT odds that everything will be OK! If you were in Vegas and a game gave you the odds of winning 99 times out of 100--you'd place your bet, right?
Thanks for the all the responses ladies! I appreciate the support on this.
My last pregnacy these screenings came up horrible...all three things they screened for were very high risks (much higher than this). Long story short is the screenings triggered the level 2 u/s at 16 weeks which showed alot of anomolies in the baby. I chose the amnio and it came up clean (which was hard to understand) but in the end I lost the baby.
Even though this pregancy is different (16 wk u/s was perfect) it is hard not to associate the past with the present! I just have to remember things are going great this time and be life is good!
I don't think I want to do the amnio, unless the next u/s shows some other markers.
Just poking my nose in from the Parenting 35+ board...
I was 1:5 for Downs but everything looked fine on the 20wk US so we did not do amnio. Baby always measured great, so we were confident that everything was fine...
And it was.... Charlie's perfectly fine.
Even a 1:5 odds is still 80% chance that everything's okay. Don't let the numbers scare you.
