I just saw your post about helping with your DS communication.
DS is currently in EI for speech therapy. His ST is having us teach him sign language to help with the frustration level. We are only working on the basics - more, please, eat, drink, no.
Also use short phrases when speaking to him. Make sure if you are using signs your also using the words. If your showing DS an object put the object next to your face while saying the word. For example if he wants an apple, put the apple next to your mouth and say "apple" that way he is also watching your mouth and comparing the object to the word. Just make sure you are real consistent.
We just started these tips with DS last week and I can not believe the progress he is making. It is amazing.
Re: **PPC
Thank you! I will try those!
Do you have any signing books you can recommend?
I don't. The ST taught me the signs she wanted me to teach him. I did find a website that shows video for signs. Also, if he is whining for food say eat and make the sign. Then show him how to do the sign with his own hands while you are saying the word. You can do the same for more, drink, etc. Have fun!
