Postpartum Depression

Homebird-or anyone else with nervousness

Anyone just really nervous, but not necessarily anxious?  I just have a nervous stomach and feeling, but I have no anxious thoughts running through my head except for wondering what is wrong with me and how and when this feeling will end.  Evenings and nights are usually really good for me, but last night I got really nervous again after calming down, which never happens.  Once it goes away at night it stays away until morning.

I started on Lexapro yesterday, so I am wondering if that had anything to do with it.  I am only on 2.5mg dose though, and wondering if SSRI's help with nervousness. This is getting old real fast. I feel like I can barely function. Thanks for anyone's help.

  • Give the Lexapro some time to work - unfortunately there is no "overnight cure" - it takes some time.

  • Do you think it will help with just plain old nervousness?  This is awful to feel to nervous/agitated/anxious all.day.long with no reason in sight.  If the meds work, that's great, I am afraid they won't work and nothing will.  This all makes no sense.

Absolutely I think it can help the nervousness. I know the waiting sucks (I have no patience!!) but give it some time and try to stay positive.

ditto. Unfortunately with the medicine, it's a trial and error process, and you just have to give them some time.

  • Keep in mind, too, that SSRIs can take a bit longer to work on anxiety than on depression. I wouldn't expect a huge difference before a month or so.

Whenever I go up a dose on Zoloft, I feel a little more anxious for a few days. Just hang in there!

  • Anxiety and nervousness are both big issues for me too!  I'm on Cipralex and it's definitely helping - it has taken a few weeks to really notice a big difference though.
