Hi ladies,
I've been on estrogen patches for many days now but suddenly today I developed red irritated skin (mildly itchy) where this morning's patches were removed. WTF?
I have previously used vivelle, estradot (the Cdn version of vivelle) with no problems but for some reason the pharmacy gave me a different brand this time around - Climara (by Bayer). The patches are double the size of the vivelle so they are BIG!
Clearly I have some sort of allergic reaction to the tape...hopefully I can return the huge unopened box of 48 that I have sitting here and get back on estradot!
Just wondering if anyone else has had a delayed reaction like this?
Re: Delayed allergic reaction to estrogen patches?
Oh no! I hope it isn't too itchy. My skin was red and itchy when I took off the vivielle patches but it went away after an hour or so.
Can you call the pharmacist and explain your reaction and see if it would be okay to take Benadryl?
Yes! this happened to me. I was doing a patch every other day and when I got Flo I had to leave thaT patch on for a week and it was so itchy and raw. I didn't really notice until I took it off though.
The RE told me it would clear up and not to put anything on it. It took about a week to clear up -it finally got scaly and dried right out. I still have 2 little dots that are probably scars.
I think it happens a lot. The girl I met at my ET showed me hers and it was even worse than mine.
Hope it clears up for you soon!
