Hello! This is my first post here, but I've been lurking on and off for a few months.
I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with Aetna's infertility hotline/program. I just made an appt for our first RE consult and the receptionist said I was supposed to call and register with aetna. I have to admit that I'm a little nervous. Are they going to grill me on our history? If anyone has any insight on this...the kinds of questions they ask or the process in general...I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!
Re: Aetna Infertility Hotline
Super easy questions, they didn't grill me a ton.
But I'm still pissed that the lady said "so what's wrong with you?" You would figure they have some sort of senstivity training, but I guess not...lol.

No, they just want to confirm that you've been trying for a set period of time (meet their coverage criteria) and to set you up in their records. You need to get an approval from them which they will send to you in the mail, which will outline exactly what diagnostic procedures are pre-approved. Even though they cc your RE, bring a copy to your consult for their files anyway.
They also had given me incorrect drug coverage information. To see if you have coverage for injects on your medical plan, not your Rx, call their Specialty Pharmacy. They'll give you all the phone numbers and all.
Welcome and good luck.
ETA: I haven't called the IF line since I set up my first consultation, and I call the pharma only to get my prescriptions, and they are generally great. You need a lead time of 2 weeks (really a few days, but 2 weeks is their default) to get your prescription paperwork processed and for them to mail them to you, and they only deliver Tues-Sat, so if you need to start your meds on a Sunday you should have them in your hands by Saturday if not earlier. You have a one time first grace for getting a prescrip reimbursed, but the won't tell you that unless you hound them. Um, this is all for injectable and compounded drugs.
Aetna (the insurance company) have their own IF division to process their members going through treatment. It's not like support or anything, it's an administrative branch.

Baby Evangeline is here!
That's march to april, and I had my IUI last friday and beta on the 23rd. This cycle was going super slow and sluggish, but I ended up with three nice follies anyway. I'm hopeful but not all that excited. I guess my first IUI BFN really hit hard.
I'm so glad you're cyst free and can cycle soon! I had a cyst last month that gave me a 3 week cycle and brought my d3 FSH down to 2.6 this time around. Those things are strange and icky.
Thanks so much for asking!
